My own transformation story.
My name is Katie and I am 27, married to the love of my life and living in Canton, a suburb outside of Atlanta. I am a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and have a Masters of Public Health and Nutrition from Liberty University.
Like many of you, I wasn't always an athlete. In fact, my fitness journey didn't truly begin until I was 20. In my younger years I was a dancer, but once I went to college all thoughts of physical activity vanished. For two years I was about as sedentary as one can get other than walking to class, and my diet was horrendous.
At the young age of 19 I was diagnosed with high-cholesterol and told that if I didn't do something about it, I would be on medication by 25. What a wake up call! I can remember calling my mom and telling her what the doctor had said and then asking, "So if I go through the Burger King drive-thru...is a burger or chicken nuggets better for my cholesterol?" This question literally hurts my heart. I was clueless!
Around the same time I met my now-husband Josh, a certified personal trainer and D-1 football player. It wasn't until I met him that I even contemplated exercise as "fun" and beneficial to my health. Josh has been health conscious his entire life and became (and still is!) my window to eating clean and training hard.
The first exercise program I attempted was P90X and I haven't looked back since! After earning my bachelors of science in Human Services I attended the National Personal Training Institute for a 6 month intensive program with in depth study of anatomy and physiology, nutrition and program design. Upon graduation from NPTI I sat for the personal trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I went on to further my education by attending Liberty University for graduate school and seeking my Masters of Public Health and Nutrition. I love all things fitness/health and wellness related and would love to help you with your own fitness journey to begin to look and feel like the person that you have always wanted.
